About the Corner House
Aims and Objectives of the Home
The Corner House offers fully self–contained accommodation for up
to seven families. The purpose of the home is to provide a safe and
nurturing environment, through tailored, robust assessments. The welfare
of the child is paramount and we provide realistic thorough assessments
to help prevent delay. The aim is for realistic parenting work and
evidence based assessments in a time frame which avoids harmful delay
and prevents family breakdown.
-
The Corner House aims to provide a structured, safe environment where
we hope parents are able to recognise a child’s needs and can build on
their own parenting skills.
-
The main aim of the home is to ensure that children are safe and
protected. To devise and implement work programmes to address the
parents' needs and parenting issues.
-
To provide a safe, structured and enabling environment which is
conducive to parents effecting the necessary changes to ensure
positive parenting.
Ethos and Philosophy
At the Corner House we aim to work in partnership with families and
involved professionals in order to prevent family breakdown and to
protect children and keep them safe at all times. We respect individuals
according to their life experiences, religious, cultural and spiritual
beliefs and their right to confidentiality and privacy. We believe that
children and families have the right to feel safe and secure and to have
all their needs met to a high standard.
We will assess, support and encourage families in line with the Five
Outcomes of Every Child Matters, treating children and their families
with care, attention and dignity at all times. We will aim for all
family members to feel "heard", using a caring and genuine approach.
Staff will present positive role models to reinforce positive parenting
and socially acceptable behaviour. We are committed to providing a
caring and high quality service, which will be regularly monitored and
reviewed.
